St Eunan's Cathedral

The mother church of the Diocese of Raphoe, built of white Mountcharles stone and open to everyone who comes to pray, worship or visit.

For more than a century St Eunan's has stood above Letterkenny as a place of daily Mass, of prayer and of the great moments of parish life, from baptisms to funerals. Whether you live in the parish or are passing through Donegal, come in, sit a while, and join us in worship.

OUR HISTORY

A cathedral built by a diocese

The foundation stone was laid on 6 September 1891 under Bishop Patrick O'Donnell, later Cardinal. Designed by William Hague of Dublin and raised in white Mountcharles stone, the Cathedral was opened and dedicated in 1901, and restored in 1985.
